I am passionate about business creation. I am deeply excited to accompany courageous founders on the complex and fascinating path of entrepreneurship. In this Venture Studio I join as a senior advisor with the willingness to share real and grounded experience, especially in the key moments of strategy definition, go to market design and construction of an offer that is repeatable, profitable and scalable.
My professional career has been international from the beginning. I started in the corporate world in Germany with HypoVereinsbank (UniCredit Group), leading investment projects, real estate and strategic acquisitions in Europe. Later, at Compaq and then at Hewlett Packard, I participated in business transformation projects, including the design and implementation of the direct business model to compete with Dell in EMEA, and the integration of HP and Compaq in Iberia. That stage marked me: I learned that operational excellence is not optional if you really want to climb the ladder.
In 2005 I founded International Venture Consultants (IVC), from where we have promoted more than 200 startup acceleration and internationalization projects in Europe, America and Asia. That work naturally led me to create Swanlaab Venture Factory, the first Spanish-Israeli venture capital manager, with which we have been investing in B2B technology startups with a focus on global scalability since 2014. I have had the good fortune to accompany from the beginning companies such as Sales Layer, Smart Protection, Mysphera, Pulpomatic, among many others, as a member of their boards of directors.
What motivates me most about this new stage as a consultant in the Venture Studio is to see the birth of an ambitious, courageous initiative, with a vocation to change things through innovation and commitment. But above all, I am thrilled to be able to do it together with my friend Rafael Tamames, whom I admire and respect deeply. For me, this is also a way of giving back what I have received: I have had great mentors and collaborators along the way, and today, if I share values with the entrepreneur, I give myself without thinking about it.
My style is direct, empathetic and “to the point”. I like to help put focus, look for structures that support and accompany without fear. I always say: “Undertake with grit, focus and without looking back”. And also: take the time you need to lay a solid foundation; don’t run on impulse or follow fads. The long road is the one that builds companies that really leave their mark.
I am especially inspired by B2B businesses with proprietary technology and innovation. And I believe that success ultimately depends on three well-aligned pillars: people, processes and systems, all assembled without compromise.
